Title IX Policy Statement

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 provides that no person shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. Newsom Educational College does not discriminate on the basis of sex in its educational programs, activities, admissions, or employment.

Title IX Coordinator

The Title IX Coordinator oversees the College's compliance with Title IX, coordinates responses to reports, and is available to provide information about options and support. The Coordinator is the primary point of contact for all Title IX-related matters.

How to Report

Any individual who believes they have experienced or witnessed sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, or sex-based discrimination is encouraged to report it. Reports may be made to the Title IX Coordinator in person, by email, or by phone. Reports may also be made anonymously, though anonymity may limit the College's ability to investigate and respond. In emergencies, call 911 immediately.

Support and Resources

The College provides support to all parties involved in a Title IX matter, including interim measures such as academic accommodations, no-contact directives, and referrals to counseling and medical services. Support is available regardless of whether a formal complaint is filed.

Grievance Procedures

The College follows published grievance procedures for resolving Title IX complaints. These procedures include prompt, impartial investigations, the right to present witnesses and evidence, written notice of allegations, and an equal opportunity for both parties to participate in the process. Retaliation against any person who reports, participates in, or is associated with a Title IX matter is strictly prohibited.
